Ocean Modelling Training at the All-Atlantic Summer School — Rio de Janeiro

On-site training delivered during the All-Atlantic Summer School on Ocean Modelling in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The training introduced participants to the SURF platform, showcasing practical downscaling applications for southeastern Brazilian shelf and coastal regions.

SURF training was delivered during the All-Atlantic Summer School in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on high-resolution coastal and shelf downscaling experiments using both the structured (SURF-NEMO) and unstructured (SURF-SHYFEM) components of the SURF platform.

Participants implemented high-resolution downscaling experiments over the Santos Basin, using the structured-grid SURF-NEMO component, and over Guanabara Bay, using the unstructured-grid SURF-SHYFEM component, providing participants with hands-on experience across different grid strategies and dynamical regimes representative of open-shelf and complex coastal environments.
