The SURF Team

Advancing ocean science through innovative modeling platforms, operational forecasting systems, and decision-support tools for coastal resilience and environmental protection.

Our Mission

The SURF team works at the intersection of oceanography, computational science, and software engineering. We develop high-resolution numerical modeling frameworks to simulate coastal and ocean dynamics for both research and operational use.

Our platform integrates multiple ocean models — including NEMO and SHYFEM — within a unified workflow. This multi-model architecture allows researchers and operational centers to choose the most suitable configuration for their coastal domains and scientific objectives.

From real-time forecasting to emergency response applications (search and rescue, oil spill tracking), SURF translates advanced ocean modeling into practical decision-support tools for coastal communities, maritime operations, and environmental agencies.
